Alonda “Bear Woman Snowbird (Awáhsohsqa Kon Cits )” Powell-Johnson is Clan Mother of

Schaghticoke First Nation under Sôcum Hawk Storm. Her key responsibilities as Clan Mother are protecting tribal culture, history, tradition and ceremony.


Awáhsohsqa Kon Cits also acts as the Communications Director for the World Alliance of Indigenous Peoples (WAIP, Inc.). She supports all indigenous communities including World Alliance of Indigenous Peoples, Golden Hill Paugussett Indians (Sister Tribe) under the leadership of Shoran Piper (Bear Clan) and MMIW Northeast Woodland Women's Circle and is one of the 145 Members of Pipe Carriers Circle-Two Row-Unity Riders.


Alonda enjoys speaking to the public about land acknowledgement, Three Sisters Garden and Soup and Indigenous women traditions and culture. She is currently studying the y dialect of the Algonquian language offered by WAIP, Inc. This Montauk/ Mohegan language class is taught by Sadanyah Flowing Water, who also serves as Wolf Clan Mother for Montauk Tribe of Indians' Sunksqá Wômôsut.


Alonda T. Powell-Johnson is a results-driven, focused, self-directed Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC/ICADC). She earned a bachelor's degree with a concentration in Social Science from the University of Bridgeport. She also holds certificates in Criminal Justice, Human Resources Management, and ServSafe Food Handler. Her subject matter expertise and dynamic management and organizational skills have afforded her remunerative opportunities to work with adults with learning and physical development delays since 1998. Presently, she is the House Coordinator for a group home for adults with developmental disabilities, including Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Bi-polar and Autism and Compulsive Disorder.


Alonda serves on multiple boards of directors including Watershed Center in Millerton, NY, Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition in Connecticut, Juneteenth of Fairfield County, Bridgeport, CT and Neighborhood Studios in Bridgeport CT. Her organizational affiliations include Parent Leadership Institute 2004, American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 140, Juneteenth of Fairfield County Parade Marshall 2023 Bridgeport, CT, and Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition-USBC.


Some of Alonda's achievements are becoming an American Red Cross CPR AND First Aide Instructor, Notary Public and Ordained Minister for the State of Connecticut. She is a Birth Doula/Placenta encapsulation. Alonda also founded a beaded bracelet company named Sunflower Seeds in honor of her late son Corbin Talon "Whistling Wind" Farrar. Mrs. Powell-Johnson is the Owner/CEO of Heavenlee Treasure, LLC: Doula/Placenta Encapsulation, a company named after her granddaughters and that strives to bring back and expand on Indigenous birth rituals and ceremonies.
